MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To research, identify, purchase, develop, test and maintain instrumentation systems. The focus of the work is to ensure that instrumentation processes operate efficiently and safely.
JOB OBJECTIVES
1. To coordinate the calibration of equipment and ensure compliance with calibration requirements for both Plant and Manufacturing equipment.
2. To perform the day-to-day demand and preventative maintenance and problem solving of test instruments.
3. To implement the planned calibration program.
4. To ensure completion of installation and validation of new and upgraded test instruments and to maintain record and documentation on relevant procedures.
5. To ensure completion and recording of functional and safety checks on test instruments and correction of any deviations from specification.
6. To liaise with internal/external laboratory and engineering personnel and contract maintenance providers in maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing equipment.
7. To prepare engineering metrics as requested and to manage inventory of spare parts.
8. To train instrumentation users on correct use of instruments and basic troubleshooting.
9. To bring attention of relevant management any risk in product/test operations, which may have adverse effects on product quality/safety.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
• A Degree in engineering or related discipline
• Ability to perform calibration activities on a range of laboratory and manufacturing instruments
• Ability to execute mechanical and electrical trouble shooting of equipment
• Ability to execute basic re-design or modification of instrumentation to achieve continuous improvements
• The ability to multitask and manage time effectively in order to deliver multiple tasks concurrently
• The ability to work co-operatively and effectively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships
• Proven report writing and presentation skills are essential coupled with excellent attention to detail
• Possess highly developed interpersonal skills
• The highest levels of integrity in the successful completion of your work

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To test, calibrate, and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, and indicating instruments and equipment for conformance to established standards. To set up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment and align, repair, replace, and balance component parts and circuitry.
JOB OBJECTIVES
1. To perform preventative and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
2. To set up test equipment and conducts tests on performance and reliability of mechanical, structural, or electromechanical equipment.
3. To disassemble and reassemble instruments and equipment, using hand tools, and inspects instruments and equipment for defects.
4. To determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
5. To perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
6. To conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
7. To troubleshoot causes of instrument and calibration equipment operating errors and deciding appropriate remedial action in accordance with vendor and manufacturer’s instructions.
